Feedback on the Svetlana Pchelnikova’s  project ‘Restoration of The collection of dolls and toys belonged to the imperial family children.’

Svetlana Pchelnikova is a Russian artist, creator of a large number of art dolls collections is also the most famous informal leader of this kind of fine art in our country. Thanks to her efforts, the collecting of art dolls turned from the fascination of individuals into a serious art form.

At the moment Russian doll artists present their works not only at exhibitions and shows in different cities of Russia but also in other countries of Europe and Asia. In our country, such events take place in many big cities and small towns which make this kind of art popular.

Svetlana Pchelnikova is a professional artist of the highest level. The project presented for the award is a confirmation of this fact.

A serious research work preceded the restoration process. Photographs, drawings, references in memoirs of the noblemen of that time helped to recreate the lost items of children's life of the last Russian emperor family. In a preliminary period, experts gave special consultations about tissues, specific features of the fine art collections of that time.  Old dollmaking techniques of the late XIX-early XX centuries were studied.

The research results allowed to reproduce the atmosphere in which the children of Nicholas II grew with the utmost precision. And the highest evaluation of this work is that now the collection of imperial dolls occupies a worthy place in the exposition of one of the best museums of the country - the State Museum- ‘Tsarskoe Selo’.

It’s necessary to note that at the IX International Doll Salon Svetlana Pchelnikova has donated the results of her work to the museum. This action shows not only her artistic maturity but also a high level of citizenship and patriotism.

Svetlana’s excellent qualities of heart motivate her permanent charitable activity. At each exhibition, she raises funds to help sick children, disabled people and people in need of help.

The collection is of particular importance for the education of modern children. They could picture the cultural atmosphere that surrounded the early years of the children of the Russian Emperor.

The combination of a high level of artistic skills, remarkable administrative and managerial skills, civil maturity and patriotism of Svetlana Pchelnikova allow us to support with all our heart the nomination of Svetlana Pchelnikova for the award of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of culture in 2016.
